I have to admit – I love bread. English muffins, croissants, breadsticks, bagels, toast, warm buttery rolls… Frankly, I’m perfectly content just gnawing on a baguette.

And I know I’m one of the lucky ones: I don’t have to worry about celiac disease or a gluten intolerance. I can easily waltz into restaurants without researching the menu, or having to scrutinize and pour over product ingredients at the grocery store.

But, if you do suffer from celiac disease, a gluten intolerance, or decided for health or diet reasons to get off the bread train, a new grocery store in Woodbury will make your life a thousand times easier.

Tailor Made Nutrition is your new specialty grocery store, developed specifically to cater to health, gluten intolerances, and allergen-free foods. You can now rest easy, as every product in this store has been carefully selected to be gluten-free.

Oh yes. Every. Single. Product.

They have read each label and inspected every ingredient so you don’t have to. No more guesswork or aggravation. The owners of Tailor Made Nutrition want to create a shopping experience that is actually enjoyable especially for those gluten intolerant customers who otherwise take a whole chunk out of their day to venture all over the cities schlepping to multiple stores and specialty shops searching for the right products.

You can find all the brands and different products the store carries on their website so you know beforehand exactly what you’ll be able to find. The store carries the popular and well-known gluten free brands such as Udi’s, Arrowhead Mills, and Bob’s Red Mill, but if your favorite product isn’t on their shelves, just shoot them an email with your product suggestion and they are happy to listen. And for many of their products they also go one step further taking into account dairy, soy, and nut allergies so you’ll be able to easily find vegan and allergen-free products as well.

And yes, even the supplements and vitamins are gluten free.

Mark Norman, nutrition specialist and co-owner of Tailor Made Nutrition said in an interview, that “We work diligently to make sure everything is not only gluten free but that there’s no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners in anything we sell.”

This promise also extends to their fresh and healthy smoothie bar. While the experts say never to shop hungry, you’ll want to save some room for these delicious smoothies as the ingredients are 100% organic, non-GMO, gluten free, low in sugar, and hypoallergenic (meaning most are free of dairy, egg, and soy). So good.

The more I learn about Tailor Made Nutrition, the less it seems like a grocery store and more akin to a wellness center. Along with their quality products, they have naturopaths, an acupuncturist, and chiropractors that operate out of the store who provide consultations and can help start you on your journey to health. The staff is well-trained and well-versed in living the gluten free lifestyle and can help you with any questions. And if you’re in need of additional expertise, store manager Penny is a licensed nutritionist with over 20 years of experience.

So while I will continue with my gluttonous bread addiction, it is great to know if I do decide to switch to the gluten free lifestyle there is an easy and knowledgeable one-stop shop right here in the cities.
