The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development(DEED) has granted $175,000 from the Job Creation Fund and an additional $450,000 from the Minnesota Investment Fund to Illume Holding, Co.

DEED Commissioner Shawntera Hardy had the following to say about investing in the company, “Illume is growing rapidly in both domestic and international markets. The new headquarters will consolidate the company’s employees under one roof and position the business for continued growth.”

The company itself will be investing $10.6 million into their expansion in Maple Grove. Illume will be moving into a new 288,000 square foot facility they will be leasing in the Arbor Lake Business Park. This is part of the companies plan to consolidate all of its operations into a single site. This expansion will create 85 jobs within the next two years, paying an average wage of $22.21 an hour.

Illume is owned by California-based Regent Holding Co. Illume is a global brand that offers home fragrance products, such as candles and diffusers, bath and beauty products, like rollerball perfume and mini hand creams, and house and home products, like stationery and matches.

Their mission is described as follows (from their website):

“We live to create.

There aren’t a lot of places for designers to work where they can create something and then see it made into a beautiful finished product ready for shipment. That’s what’s unique about us: we manufacture in Minnesota, in the same building we work.

Because we live to create, we have in-house calligraphers, illustrators, painters, writers, designers, sourcing geniuses, chemists, mixers and wick straighteners. We take big ideas and inspiration, and then complicate them until they’re messy and unwieldy and just how we like them. And then we start refining.

Every day we collaborate, to wrangle our biggest ideas into your favorite new find.”

Illume already had a strong Minnesota connection, as they are one of Target’s largest retail suppliers. They also supply products to Anthropologie and West Elm. Regent Holding, which acquired Illume in 2016, is a major competitor in the U.S. Gift and home accessories market.
