Step right up, come and see an amazing troupe of athletic dare devils! See the show everyone’s talking about full of acrobatic stunts and high-flying feats onstage and above the musicians as the Minnesota Orchestra performs music from the movies! Sarah Hicks will be conducting below as you get a double show…
On May 18 & 19, Principal Conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall Sarah Hicks leads the Minnesota Orchestra as they are joined by the performers of Cirque de la Symphonie. Cirque de la Symphonie, a touring group of aerialists, acrobats, contortionists, jugglers and strongmen, has created programs especially for live performance with symphonic orchestras all across the country. The company performed at Orchestra Hall first in 2016, and returns this season for a movie-themed event, featuring high-flying acrobatics paired with some of Hollywood’s best musical moments by composers Ennio Morricone, John Williams, James Horner, Randy Newman, Danny Elfman, and Hans Zimmer.
The highly talented Cirque de la Symphonie is an acrobatic troupe that brings the magic of cirque to the concert hall. Each performance is choreographed to classical masterpieces, and uniquely adapted to accommodate a shared stage with orchestras. This is anything but new to them as they have performed with over 100 orchestras around the world. Their talented members add a striking visual element to the concert experience. Its performers include world record holders, gold-medal winners of international competitions and Olympians. Learn more about Cirque de la Symphone at cirquedelasymphonie.com.
The concerts are performed at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis on Friday, May 18, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. Make sure to act fast as ticket availability is limited for these concerts.
