Minneapolis

Listen up: The Minnesota Twins radio broadcasts are headed back to WCCO.

  • The games were broadcast on WCCO airwaves from 1961 to 2006, as the Twins’ first radio partnership, before taking this 12-year hiatus.
  • You’ll still be able to catch games on GoMN’s 96.3 as well.

Wildflower Foundation, the nonprofit that provides teachers with technological tools and helps to keep school tuition costs low at Montessori schools, is growing like, well, wildflowers.

  • They plan to open two new locations next year, one in South Minneapolis, and another in White Bear Lake.
  • Wildflower was formed in 2016. The organization is led by Matthew Kramer, formerly of Teach for America.

St. Paul

Pullman’s Pub is now open in Lowertown.

  • A pub serving the pub fare you’d expect (though the stuffed mushrooms are supposed to be good), the space between Hygga and coming-soon Culhane Brewing across from Union Depot is the latest in Lowertown’s string of openings.
  • We’ll have a review for you soon.

First Ave is taking over Wild Tymes (next door to the new Palace Theater) in downtown St. Paul.

  • There will be an overhaul of the space and a name change. Maybe they’ll spell “times” correctly?
  • The project is similar to The Depot next to the original and actual First Ave in downtown Minneapolis, which acts as a pre-show grub hub for the venue.

The downtown St. Paul Airport (Holman Field) restaurant and lounge will be open in time for the Super Bowl.

  • It will be named Holman Table.
  • The restaurant will be open to the public during the Super Bowl for locals and visitors alike to catch a glimpse of incoming celebrities, though there will be security checkpoints.

Metro

3M sued in what will likely be one of the largest environmental lawsuits in US history.

  • The state of Minnesota is seeking $5 billion in damages from 3M Co., claiming their chemicals raised cancer, premature birth, underweight baby, and infertility rates in Washington County.
  • Apparently, one of those three “M”s stands for mesothelioma…
  • Bloomberg has the full report.

More clothes at MOA: Mens’ suit maker Indochino is opening a custom-suit store at Mall of America.

  • This is Indochino’s first store in Minnesota.

More burgers at MOA as well: Mark Wahlberg and bros’ popular burger chain, Wahlburgers (clever), is opening in the mall as well.

  • You guessed it: This is also the first Wahlburgers location in Minnesota. Who says we can’t have culture in the north?
  • Expect MOA’s latest burger chain to open this spring.

Beyond

Duluth Trading Company is now the official sponsor of the US Luge team, just in time for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Vice, the “edgy” media brand behind Munchies, Creator’s Project, Vice News and more, missed its revenue target by $800 million.

  • Maybe because more people are reading Twin Cities Agenda?
  • This does signal a change in media, Buzzfeed will also miss a lofty projected revenue goal after recent and rapid growth. Other paper-based publications, like GQ and Bon Appétit, are cutting back as well.
  • We’ll be reporting more on the state of media in the America, coming soon.
