Tinder looks just like Snapchat now

We recently discussed the impact of Tinder on Twin Cities singles (Tinder: Good or bad for Twin Cities’ singles?) to get an idea about whether or not Tinder actually works, and if it works, who it works for.

We felt good about things.

And then they went and changed everything on us.

A redesign of the layout makes pictures the focal point. Really, the only point. Those who spent hours on a witty tagline in their bio but spent no time on that perfect selfie will unfortunately fall by the wayside.

As of yesterday, Tinder users will enjoy pictures, and pictures, and pictures front-and-center; edge-to-edge photos of those that users may, or may not, be interested in. And it even scrolls the same way Snapchat stories’ scroll: You can just tap the picture to bring up the next one. Exciting and easy and efficient and all that.

And if you want to see someone you’re interested in’s full profile (and that witty tagline they worked so hard on), just tap the bottom of that expansive photo.

Swipe right nothing. We’re all tapping people now.

But it looks good. It’s a modern, sleek, sexy design. Kind of like what Tinder is trying to promote: Modern, sleek, sexy romance. And of course they can’t be concerned with the fact that more and more people will be getting together based on looks alone as a result of this.

Will this change how Twin Cities singles (and not-so-singles) use the app?

Stay tuned.
