And it comes as no surprise.

Silvia Fowles, the popular, hard-hitting center for Minnesota’s best sports team, was named 2017 WNBA MVP on Thursday (9/14) after averaging nearly 19 points and over 10 rebounds per game during the regular season.

She helped lead the Lynx to WNBA’s best record (27-7) as well.

And she had already been named to the All-WNBA first team on Tuesday (9/12). Consider the MVP award the well-earned icing on the cake after a long, incredibly successful season.

So cold.

And it’s not over yet:

Fowles will be a major contributor to the Lynx’s success in the postseason as well; in the Los Lynx’s bid to win their fourth WNBA title in seven years (if you needed proof that the Lynx are the best sports team in Minnesota). She already helped the team, with 18 points and 7 rebounds, to a 1-0 lead over the Washington Mystics during a 101-81 victory Tuesday.

Fowles earned 35 of the 37 first-place votes for MVP. Fowles is the first Lynx player to win since Maya Moore won in 2014.

(Other considerations for MVP included Tina Charles, Candace Parker, Nneka Ogwumike and Jonquel Jones.)
