Local eats at… the airport?

400
msp airport new food places

I was just coming home from a vacation last weekend and happened to notice the wide variety of restaurants during my walk from the gate to the baggage claim. And not only just a variety of random restaurants, but local Twin Cities restaurants that I can find in my own neighborhood.

There’s nothing I hate more than seeing chain restaurant after chain restaurant in airports when I’m just looking to find a decent meal before getting on my next flight. It seems that MSP airport has done just that and brought in an array of local restaurant favorites that really represent us as a whole.

Here are a few worth noting:

Black Sheep Coal Fired Pizza

Ranked as Food Network’s best pizza in Minnesota, they’ve secured a spot in Terminal 1 when you’re craving a slice. Nothing beats their Oyster Mushroom, Smoked Mozzarella, Rosemary & Garlic pizza.

Republic

This favorite burger and beer eatery over in Seven Corners brings its legendary menu to Terminal 1. Grab a local beer and one of their Duck Burgers before hopping on your flight.

Smack Shack

I once saw a Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives episode where Guy ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese at this food truck meets dive bar in downtown Minneapolis. I had to try it. You better believe it was the most amazing thing I’ve ever tasted. And now Smack Shack has opened a spot recently in Terminal 1’s Airport Mall for you to enjoy as well.

Holy Land Deli

Another staple in the Minneapolis area known for its falafels, gyros, and hummus, Holy Land Deli is now coming to MSP airport’s Food Truck Alley this summer 2017. Get a filling meal of incredible food on the go!

Lolo American Kitchen

Coming from Stillwater, Lolo American Kitchen recently opened its doors in Concourse E of MSP’s terminal 1. Known for its American street foods and variety of tasty cocktails, this is the perfect spot to take a load off before boarding your next flight.

Angel Food Bakery & Coffee Bar

Coming from downtown Minneapolis, this well known Bakery is baking up incredible pastries fresh every morning for travelers on the go. Artisan baked goods (including gluten free ones) are to die for and well leave you begging for more. Grab a pastry and coffee for the road.

Red Cow

A staple burger place of the Twin Cities, Red Cow is joining Holy Land Deli in MSP’s new Food Truck Ally and serving up its delectable gourmet burgers along with a variety of local craft beers and fine wine. You can find them Summer 2017.
