The majestic Minnesota History Center overlooking downtown St. Paul has dedicated its expansive 3rd Floor Gallery to its latest exhibit, titled Somalis + Minnesota.
The exhibit puts a spotlight on Somali history and tradition, and paints an intimate portrait of a culture that has helped to shape the thriving Minnesota we know and love today. Developed through collaboration between the Minnesota Historical Society and the Somali Museum of Minnesota, the hall features an extensive collection of traditional items, artifacts, and photos, as well as firsthand stories of Somali history from Baadiye to Mogadishu, to the long journey across the ocean, and the lives made here in Minnesota.
Watch the video above for a colorful, dynamic look at Somalis + Minnesota before you go and visit. The exhibit runs June 23, 2018 – June 9, 2019.
