Spring Cocktails You Can Make At Home

It’s time to bring out that patio set and soak of the sun because spring is upon us. Gather your friends and family for an evening at home with this short compilation of various drinks, cocktails and beverages to make at home this season. It’s heating up so let’s throw back a few seasonal, thirst-quenching, flavor-packed cocktails for all to enjoy!

Spiked Arnold Palmer

With spring in full swing, and to honor his club-swinging legacy, we kick things off with the Arnold Palmer named after the (late) legend himself. This drink was originally created by Arnold which later evolved into several different styles. It combines an even balance of tea and lemonade with a spiked edge.

  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 5 regular-size unsweetened tea bags
  • ¾ cup sugar (fluctuate to taste)
  • 4 cups of your favorite lemonade
  • 1 cup of your favorite bourbon or vodka
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: lemon slices

How to Make it

  • Pour boiling water over tea bags and sugar into a pitcher then stir until sugar is dissolved
  • Cover and steep 5 minutes
  • Uncover then stir in 4 cups lemonade
  • Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes (for optimal taste, chill overnight)
  • Add in 1 cup of desired spirit
  • Serve over ice and garnish (optional)

Mint Julep

Put on your favorite floppy-goofy derby hat and sun dresses because we’re off to the races with this Kentucky Derby classic. The mint julep is one of several popular drinks consumed during these horseracing events. With derby kicking off in just a couple weeks enjoy this elegant cocktail made at home with your friends as you dress up and enjoy the races while having fun in the sun.

  • Bourbon
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Sugar
  • Water or club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • muddler

How to make it

  • In an empty glass muddle the mint leaves, sugar, and a splash of water at the bottom
  • Pour in 1.5 oz bourbon (or more if you really want to enjoy the race)
  • Fill glass with crushed ice
  • Top off with water or club soda, then stir
  • Garnish with fresh mint (optional)

Classic Red Sangria

If you’re not into golf or racing horses there are other events to be excited about this up and coming season as well. There is another beloved drinking holiday just around the corner: Cinco de Mayo is always celebrated on the 5th of May (or should we say Drinko de Mayo). With the weather starting to heat up, we can cool off with this fruity classic.

  • 1 bottle dry red wine (Cabernet or Merlot)
  • ¼ cup lemon vodka
  • ¼ cup orange vodka
  • ¼ cup brandy or tequila
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tbsp. simple syrup (optional)
  • lemon & lime slices

How to make it

  • Combine all ingredients into a pitcher or punch bowl then stir
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving
  • Add ice (optional)
