Local Sports –

Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks @ STP Saints, May 15th 7:05pm. The St. Paul Saints kick off their home season against the Redhawks. If you haven’t been to the new stadium yet, bring some friends and hangout in the craft beer corner, oh and anywhere is a good seat at this gorgeous stadium.

Los Angeles Galaxy @ MN United, TFC Bank Stadium, May 21 4pm. Watch our Minnesota boys defend their home turf against these West Coast bruisers (and get excited for the new soccer stadium for MN United being built across the river in St. Paul).

Happy Hour –

HotDish Happy Hour – Grumpy’s NE On Tuesday’s From 5pm-9pm you can enjoy a bowl of hot dish for $1 (while supplies last) Not to mention mingle with some low key hipsters and old time locals.

Forage –

Garlic Mustard Harvest and Pull, May 19th 9am-12pm at the Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Bloomington, MN

Join a group at this Three Rivers Park to learn, locate and forage one of the most invasive plants we have here in MN. You’ll learn a bit on how to cook it or eat it and be able to take some home.  This event is something different, fun and educational.  It also help the native plants reclaim their forests.

Adult Night At the Zoo –

With food and libations available for purchase, an adult only atmosphere and an adult speaker series: you’ll be able to chortle and kick back like a kid again, with out worrying about little Timmy jumping in with the tortoises. Minnesota Zoo May 19th, 4:30pm-7:30pm

Local Art –

Check out this years Art-A-Whirl installations throughout NE MPLS, consisting of over 50 stops centered around the artist community. Hundreds of events will be happening around NE MPLS from glass blowing demos to the 2nd annual Liquid Zoo @ the beloved Bauhaus Brew Labs.  Heck, if the weather looks nice, why not walk around, support your community and maybe grab a last minute gift for Mom’s Day?

Growing Mushrooms –

MN Landscape Arboretum 5/20 1pm-4pm, Well this is cool – This kid-friendly event/hands on presentation is a little tutorial and informational on how mushrooms grow, spawn, and survive.  You’ll get a hands on demonstration on how to inoculate a log with a select type of mushroom and then you get to take it home! After 5-10 months, you’ll have a fruiting log with lovely nutrient-rich ingredients pouring out of it.
