Minneapolis

The brewing boom continues: Pryes Brewing is opening Saturday in the Riverside Plaza industrial complex on the Minneapolis riverfront.

Working together: Downtown Minneapolis is getting a co-working space.

  • WeWork co-working space will be opening in the 38th, 39th, and 40th floors of Capella Tower this fall.
  • The space will be able to accommodate up to 1,000 members.
  • An international brand based in New York, WeWork has 140 locations around the world. This will be their first in Minnesota.

The condo boom continues: A new 110-condo building in Northeast Minneapolis has passed preliminary planning stages.

  • Milwaukee-based Fe Equus, the developer also responsible for the Hewing Hotel in the North Loop, is behind the plan.
  • The building will also offer 10,800 square feet of retail space at street level.
  • Similar to another Northeast Minneapolis condo project down the street, there is a historic bar attached to the site (Whitey’s Saloon). Unlike the other project, this bar won’t be razed to make way for the new tower

St. Paul

Duck, duck, Gray Duck Tavern opens Thursday.

Securian names CEO Chris Hilger Chairman of the Board.

  • Securian Financial Group, a Fortune 1000 company that has been growing rapidly, has the largest footprint of any employer in downtown St. Paul.

Making waves: Yacht owner and yacht club going to federal court over sunken houseboat still sitting at the bottom of the Mississippi.

  • He said, she said: The St. Paul Yacht Club claims the owner is responsible for removal; the owner claims the club is responsible for moving the boat.
  • The boat sank over six months ago.
  • It could cost as much as $50,000 for the boat to be removed from the water.

The future is now: Mall of America has officially launched their digital directories.

  • Users will be able to search quickly and easily through a guided tour of the mall.
  • Users cans also send the directions to their cell phone to help guide them through the malls 3,000,000+ square feet of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space.
  • A “digital concierge” will also be available through to text to offer gift recommendations, make reservations at restaurants and answer whatever other questions you may have.

Mills Fleet Farm has a new CEO.

  • Derick Prelle will take the reigns from interim CEO Wayne Sales.
  • Fleet Farm is planning a major expansion: The chain currently operates 36 locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Iowa, and looks to double that number within six years.
  • The Mills family no longer owns the chain, as it was sold to KKR & co. in 2016.
