Operating systems, viruses, and more: Micro Center's In-Store Clinics

The world of technology is in a constant state of flux: It seems the moment you buy a new technological toy a new one has already hit shelves, or some big change/upgrade has rendered your knowledge on the subject useless.

There are many different ways to gain knowledge on these subjects. It is, after all, an information age where the internet can help you find/learn almost anything. But the issue we often run into with the internet is knowing whether what you’re learning is real or not: a great example is the spread of fake news (no, not the POTUS tagline; actual fabricated news) that only confuses us further. Thankfully, there is a fantastic (and free) tool at our fingertips that resides at Micro Center, located just outside of Minneapolis in St. Louis Park.

Briefly, Micro Center is basically the Home Depot/Menards/Lowe’s of the tech world. Over 30,000 items in stock means you can usually find any technology you need: cables, monitors, routers, switches, computers, graphics cards etc (I work in IT and have never had a bad experience here when buying parts or other tools that I have needed). The staff is always helpful, and, somehow, most prices manage to stay lower than Amazon’s. Micro Center’s official About Micro Center page can be found HERE if you’d would like to know more.

But, perhaps even more useful than products they offer, Micro Center also hosts in-store informational classes that they call “clinics.” Whether you’re completely in the dark or just looking for a refresher, they’re a useful resource: classes cover everything from viruses and malware, to Microsoft Office Programs, to the newish Windows 10 operating system, and how to make it all work better for you.

All the clinics are free, but it is recommended that you register for each clinic instead of just showing up the day of.

The following are upcoming clinics to be held at Micro Center.
