The newest Northeast Minneapolis craft brewery is officially open for business as of late April. Headflyer Brewing, founded by husband and wife team Neil and Amy Miller, has been a long time coming but seems well worth the wait.
The 3,000 square foot taproom sits in the old Miller Textile building along Hennepin Avenue. The building has recently undergone a complete renovation and Headflyer is one of the occupants along with Five Watt Coffee and Mission Manor Escape room.
The owners say that they want to make the brewery as family friendly as possible and will host weekly gatherings, food pop ups, and events for all ages so you don’t have to leave the kids at home.
The taproom will consist of a lounge type area for large gatherings, a high top bar for smaller groups, and also corner spaces for people that may choose to work for a few hours with drink in hand. They also boast an outdoor space that rivals other patios in the area.
Headflyer will have 13 beers available to start including some flagships like an Amber, Golden Ale, a couple IPAs, Saison, Porter and Pale Ale along with some experimentals/seasonals that they’ll put out on and off. They’ll also have locally made craft soda available on tap.
After the initial opening on April 22nd, customers have already been gushing about its fantastic beer list, open bar concept, and an awesome patio to relax on in nice weather.
After 3 years of planning, Neil and Amy are looking forward to making a dent in the NE Minneapolis craft brewery scene. I myself look forward to heading on over there to try it out!
