Raiders of the Lost Ark

For all you Harrison Ford fans and movie fans comes a fun treat: The Minnesota Orchestra will be performing the film score for the film Raiders of the Lost Ark live for audiences on October 27, and 28.

The film score for Raiders of the Lost Ark was written by the fantastic (I might be a bit of a fan) John Williams. His career has spanned over five decades and some of his more famous credits include the scores for Jurassic Park, Jaws, Star Wars Episodes IV to VI, 1941, Born on the Fourth of July, Always, Schindler’s List, Home Alone, Hook, JFK, Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot, the first three Harry Potter films, Lincoln, and many, many more. His awards history is just as impressive, as he has been nominated for an Oscar 41 times, has had 20+ gold and platinum records, and countless Emmy and Golden Globe nominations (IMDB).

Sarah Hicks, who has taken the lead on multiple programs since first joining the Orchestra as an assistant conductor in 2006, will be conducting the show. Hicks is the principal conductor for Live at Orchestra Hall, which spans many different musical and performance genres. This won’t be her first time conducting the score for a film: She conducted previous film score concerts for La La Land, The Little Mermaid, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (another John Williams score). In addition to taking on film scores, Hicks will be making her debut this season with the Calgary Symphony and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra as well. Her past with the Minnesota Orchestra is varied, and she has taken part in may programs as well as helping introduce “A Scandinavian Christmas” in 2008. To read more about Sarah Hicks, click HERE.

The concerts will be held at 8pm on Friday the 27th, and Saturday the 28th. Tickets will range in price from $35 to $85 dollars and are available HERE, or by calling 612-371-5656.

Added perk: With it being so close to Halloween, some of the Minnesota Orchestra Musicians will be all dressed up in costumes; feel free to dress up as well.
