Music can a be pivotal component for celebrating life, especially with family and friends. The sunshine and good vibes also help to make for the best outdoor music festivals. The Twin Cities has a lot to offer during the up and coming months as far as live music goes. There is something appealing for almost anyone’s music tastes and budget, from hip-hop to jazz to blues to rock and of course some quality people watching. With that and the festival season upon us here are a select few exclusively located around the Minneapolis and St. Paul area:

2017 Marks the 10th year anniversary for the Sound Set Music Festival. Since its first year in existence Sound Set has helped pave the way for outdoor hip-hop music performances. With increasing size and popularity many people from all over the country come to attend and perform at one of the largest hip-hop music festivals in the country. This is an all ages event open to everyone and anyone.

TC Jazz fest

Even after 18 years of the TC Jazz Festival it is still free to all. This will be the 19th year for the festival, which will anticipate hosting 90,000+ jazz music fans in Mears Park in St. Paul. TC Jazz Fest is able to accommodate for free because of its funding raised through proceeds from its annual Winter Jazz Festival, corporate sponsorships, and donations to its 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Come on out and bring your family and friends to enjoy some of the finest Jazz music St. Paul has to offer!

Lowertown Blues and Funk Fest

The Twin Cities is home to one of the largest Blues festivals in the country. Lowertown Blues and Funkfest started in the summer of 2003, then known as the Famous Dave’s BBQ and Blues festival, and is still growing every year with more performances and attending fans. Bring your friends and family out to Mears Park this this July to enjoy free live music!

Rock the Garden

The Walker Art Center began the Rock the Garden music festival in 1998 and it has been growing ever since. Every year performers, bands and musicians gather from across the country as well as overseas to perform. Big names aren’t the only ones filling the schedule as local/Midwest artists also set to take the stage. Last year’s festival moved over to Boom Island Park on the shores of the Mississippi due to The Walker’s renovations and updates to the sculpture garden. This year the Walker plans on hosting this festival back within the newly renovated sculpture garden which builds more anticipation and intrigue for those to come on out and enjoy the show!
